Type 430 is a straight Chromium, non-hardenable grade combining good corrosion resistance and formability characteristics with useful mechanical properties. Its ability to resist nitric acid attack permits its use in specific chemical applications but automotive trim represents its largest field of applications.
Type 430 F is athe free-machining version of this grade designed for use in parts produced in automatic screw machines.
AISI Type 434 is the molybdenum bearing version of Type 430 and has the same useful combination of properties. its molybdenum addition improves corrosion resistance particularly to road salt attack in automotive trim applications. AISI Type 436 is another version of 430. It contains columbrium, as well as the molybdenum addition, to improve the serface appearance of sreatched and drawn parts.
